Client Research Director - B2B Software

The Client Research Director is responsible for the full client engagement from onboarding through to presentation of results. You will conduct interviews with decision-makers, excavate for win/loss and churn insights, and work closely with the Lead Analyst to analyze results and develop actionable insights for our clients. You’re comfortable working with senior leaders, you have interviewing and/or market research experience, and you have experience in B2B software (see below for full role description).

Qualitative Research Analyst

As a Research Analyst, you will invest focused, thoughtful time in analyzing interview transcripts to produce detailed, written reports for each customer interview. You’re an excellent writer and preferably have proofing experience. You enjoy understanding all of the factors at play in a decision from a customer's perspective, and you like to work independently.

Client Research Director

Do you have B2B SaaS client-facing experience as a product marketer (e.g. competitive intelligence), product manager, account executive, business strategist, CSM or sales engineer? Are you customer-centric by nature, curious, and a good listener, perhaps with interviewing or sales discovery experience?


IcebergIQ is a leading research firm dedicated to helping software companies learn from their buyers and customers through win/loss and churn interviews. We are expanding our team and seeking the right person to fill this role. 


As the Client Research Director, you are responsible for the full client engagement, from onboarding to presentation of results. You will use our specialized interview methodology to conduct interviews with our clients’ buyers and customers, and you will work closely with the Lead Analyst to analyze and summarize findings that deliver actionable insights. As the manager of the client relationship, you are comfortable engaging with manager-level stakeholders up to C-level executives and other senior leaders. You will provide strategic guidance to help clients achieve their research goals, and you will inspire confidence through your thoughtful approach, technical proficiency and understanding, and dedication to successful client outcomes.


Ideal Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role at a B2B software company, such as product marketing, product management, competitive intelligence, customer success, sales, solutions consulting/engineering, or program management.
  • Effective interviewing and market research skills to gather valuable insights (training of the IcebergIQ methodology will be provided). Our clients represent a broad range of verticals including network solutions, sales enablement, cybersecurity, ERP, CRM, FinTech, MarTech, and education solutions.
  • Qualitative research skills, including the ability to identify key themes and root causes of decisions or actions. Quantitative research skills are a “nice to have” but not necessary.
  • Excellent relationship-building and account and program management skills.
  • Strategic thinker, problem solver, curious, eager to learn.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Tech-savvy and knowledgeable about B2B SaaS offerings, including highly technical solutions.


Position Details

  • Long-term contract position, 15-25 hours per week.
  • Open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
  • Requires some flexibility in availability in order to align with client / customer schedules.
